Industry Insights
“The Main Event” featured sessions exploring a wide array of topics, including everyday challenges in web scraping, the necessity of proxies for effective data extraction, and the innovative use of Large Language Models (LLMs). Jan Čurn of Apify in particular focused on how to best do so using web data. We also found Joachim Asare at Harvard University’s contribution on techniques for utilising these models successfully to be particularly meaningful. He emphasised the importance of careful training and ethical considerations such as privacy, transparency, and fairness in their deployment, which is at the core of our work at Aeterna Labs.
Getting Hands-On
Another event dubbed “Extract Labs” was a day filled with technical sessions focused on building web scrapers. These hands-on sessions were a great way to brush up on coding skills and tackle some real-world web scraping issues head-on.
Fostering Industry Connections
At Aeterna Labs, we have the green light from over 120 trusted partners for web scraping. This summit was more than just an educational experience – it was an excellent opportunity to meet with Zyte's team and other professionals to discuss our shared interest in the use of conscientious web scraping to drive business forward. Since our main focus at Aeterna Labs is in ad tech, web scraping is a crucial element of our operations. The insights gained and new relationships formed at the summit will help us to refine and advance our advertising solutions.
Looking Ahead
A big thanks to Zyte for hosting the event. The Web Data Extraction Summit 2024 gave us useful insights and fresh perspectives on web scraping. We're excited to put what we learned into action and continue pushing forward in the world of contextual advertising.
